Center for Disability Rights to Host Training for Small Businesses on Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance
Rochester, NY – The Center for Disability Rights (CDR), in partnership with the Olinsky Law Group, will host a training session on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance for small businesses. The training will be held on August 16, 2012, at 3:00 pm at 497 State Street.
On July 26, 2012, the 22nd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, CDR and the Olinsky Law Group announced their recently formed partnership targeting ADA enforcement. CDR has broadly promoted this partnership and is assisting individuals in the greater Rochester area to identify ADA violations and work toward remedies for these violations. It is expected that some of the identified violations will result in law suits.
“While we are very comfortable with suing businesses that violate the ADA, it is not our primary goal,” stated Bruce Darling, CDR’s President/CEO. “We want to create a more accessible greater Rochester area. We are happy to work with businesses to proactively improve access. That is what this training is about.”
The ADA compliance training will address physical and programmatic violations as well as employment discrimination against people with disabilities. The training is free and open to the public. RSVPs are appreciated but not required. RSVPs and questions may be directed to Stephanie Woodward at (585) 546-7510 or via email at swoodward@cdrnys.org.
