Rochester, NY – The Rochester Voters Alliance (RVA) will host a volunteer recruitment and orientation on May 6, 2008, from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. The event will be held at the Center for Disability Rights, Inc., 497 State Street in Rochester.
The orientation will feature the Monroe County Board of Elections Commissioners, Peter Quinn and Tom Ferrarese, providing education regarding the registration process. RVA hopes to recruit volunteers to help with voter registration activities throughout the 2008 election season.

During the 2004 election season, the Rochester Voters Alliance and its members were responsible for the registration of over 3,000 voters. RVA members also conducted voter education and get out the vote activities.

RVA volunteers will perform voter registration, focusing on neighborhoods and zip codes where voter registration is disproportionately low. RVA will need volunteers to do registration in locations such as Strong Hospital, TOPS Markets, the Public Market, Save-a-lot, Price Rite, and public festivals.

The Rochester Voters Alliance is composed of non-profit, non-partisan, community-based organizations devoted to increasing the number of voters registered, educated and voting.

Individuals not able to attend this recruitment can call Paul Brayer for more information about RVA and its activities. Mr. Brayer can be reached at (585) 271-3479.
