New York Disability Vote Network (NYDVN)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 12, 2015

Bronx, NY – Newly elected State Assemblyman Michael Blake will be meeting with constituents who are interested in disability issues at the New York Disability Vote Network (NYDVN) enrollment brunch being held Friday, February 20, 2015, from 9:30 – 10:30 am at the Bronx Independent Living Services (BILS) community room, 4419 Third Ave, Suite 2C, Bronx NY 10457.

Blake reached out to advocates in the Disability community for help in arranging the opportunity to get to know people he represents who have concerns about disability issues.  The statewide voter engagement network, NYDVN, is partnering with local independent living service provider, BILS, to sponsor this informational event. Assemblyman Blake will be speaking at 10:00 AM, followed by time for Q&A with the Assemblyman and his staff.

“For a freshman Assemblyman to reach out to the Bronx’s Disability community like this shows a lot about what his priorities are,” said BILS Advocacy and Youth Programs Manager Tamesha Coleman.

Coleman and NYDVN coordinator Marie Hickey will be available for enrolling individuals into the NYDVN throughout the “Rock the Voter Bloc Brunch”.  For more information on NYDVN, visit www.nydvn.org.

Hickey added, “We’re extremely excited for the chance to involve more members of the Bronx Disability community into the political process. Their voices should be heard and Assemblyman Blake’s initiative is a perfect opportunity.”
