Apology for “R” Word Accepted

13 Wham News, Rochester, August 12, 2009
Photo of Chris Hilderbrant Addressing the Monroe County Legislature(Rochester, N.Y.) – The Center for Disability Rights says it’s willing to accept the apology of majority leader Quatro on behalf of himself, his caucus, and the full legislature.

This was all over the use of the “R” word during a public meeting.

Tuesday night a crowd packed the Monroe County Legislature chambers to protest use of the word “retard” during a meeting last month. (It had been caught on tape.)

Activists wore orange ribbons to bring attention to their cause.

Some accuse majority leader Dan Quatro. He denied saying it, but accepted responsibility, he said, on behalf of his party.
