Verification of Deposit for 2013 Proves Successful

Throughout the year of 2013 there has been an ongoing initiative conducted by the Center for Disability Rights, Inc. Community Supplemental Needs Trust related to Verification of Deposit into Pooled Trusts.  As stated in the Second Addendum to New York State Department of Health Administrative Directive Number Eight from 1996 “verification that the income was placed into the trust is required.  In order to eliminate the need to verify this on a monthly basis, it is recommended that you advise the recipient to divert the income directly to the exception trust.”

The goal of this initiative has been to ensure as many counties as possible follow a form of Annual Verification thereby ensuring the consumers this Pooled Trust serves do not have their Medical Assistance benefits jeopardized.  As of December 18, 2013 the hard efforts of the Advocacy division of the Center for Disability Rights Pooled Trust Department has confirmed that there have been 47 out of 62 counties have adopted a form of Annual Verification equaling 75% of the entire districts.  The following is a list of those counties that have agreed to move to a form of Annual Verification:

We are excited for what 2014 shall bring with this project.  The negotiations that have begun with specific counties shall continue in 2014 until a reasonable solution that is mutually beneficial for all parties involved is reached advancing the efforts of the Center for Disability Rights Pooled Trust.
