While attending a gathering at the Wolfgang Puck Express located at the Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack, I wanted to play the games in the facility.  As I sat down at my first machine I realized there was an issue in terms of accessibility for an individual who is blind.  The issue was that the machine had no raised buttons with Braille labeling or a speech audio output to read information presented on the screen.  Without these reasonable modifications, it is not possible for me to enjoy the facility to my full potential thereby invading not only my right as a patron, but others with visual disabilities.

After I came to this realization, I went to the Customer Service Desk to inquire their suggestion of how I could play the games of my choosing.  As I approached this desk and explained the situation, I had to go through 2 individuals who had no clue of how to accommodate my needs therefore they had to contact the Floor Supervisor.  I had hoped this person would accommodate my needs better than the Desk Workers, unfortunately though I saw no difference in terms of service between either individuals.  This Supervisor pointed out a few machines, but I saw none with raised Braille labeled buttons and speech output at one machine.  Another frustrating point was when the Floor Supervisor had to call a technician who was just as helpful as the Floor Supervisor.
After the walk through with the Floor Supervisor which was super unsuccessful, I was advised by this individual that I could fill out a comment card with my feedback.  It should be noted this avenue was just as helpful as the service I received at the Customer Service Desk originally.  As a first time patron who is legally blind, I am not greatly impressed with my experience and this facility has much room for improvement.  I understand this facility is required to maintain specific standards set forth by the New York State Lottery, but they must make steps to improve the availability of their machines to those with visual disabilities.  My experience with the Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack facility has sparked my curiosity to investigate if this is just an isolated issue at this one gaming site or a more widely spread concern presented at similar venues throughout New York State.
