Independent Living Supervisor



Employment Type: Full-Time
Summary:
Under minimal supervision, ensures that RCIL promotes and maintains the Independent Living Philosophy, advocates for and facilitates Independent Living Services for persons with disabilities, supervises the benefits, employment, and No Wrong Door IL staff in the delivery of core IL services, and is responsible for the billing of fee-for-service revenue in these programs.
Duties:
  • Supervises and supports No Wrong Door staff to ensure successful completion (including reporting requirements) of the Department of Health Balancing Incentive Program to expand and enhance NY Connects.
  • Supervises Benefits staff.
  • Supervises Employment staff.
  • Provides Information and Referral services and increase the number of intakes completed by staff.
  • Provides general assistance to consumers in a variety of issues concerning disability rights and services including, but not limited to: public benefits, employment, long term services and supports, community resources, housing/rentals, accessibility, ADA compliance, individual advocacy, home modifications, peer support programs, NYS waiver programs, MCOs and MLTC enrollments, etc.
  • Engages in community relations to include, but not limited to: Holding staff meetings, workshops, and presentations to provide outreach and promote RCIL programs and its benefits to the consumers who participate.
  • Is responsible for completion, coordination, and submission of department case notes from staff.
  • Is responsible for ongoing relevant training and professional development for staff.
  • Performs supervisory duties that include, but are not limited to: hiring and training staff, promoting, disciplining, scheduling, terminating, measuring the performance of staff, and conducting annual staff evaluations.
  • Completing of timely and efficient billing for fee-for-service programs.
  • Prepares and writes grant reports, including state and federal reports.
  • Participates in various committees and organizational activities as assigned.
  • Assists in developing applications for grant funding.
  • Submits board report information in a timely fashion.
  • Provides/coordinates interdepartmental trainings in RCIL, CDR, and AAY to promote collaboration.
  • Links consumers to services in order to meet their needs.
  • Grows the overall number of consumers using IL services in the community.
  • Maximizes existing fee for service contracts/programs.
  • Assumes any additional tasks or projects as determined by Director of IL.
Skills:
  • The duties are representative of the essential functions of the position.
  • The physical requirements for this position are those typically present in normal office environment conditions.
  • Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs.
  • Travel throughout RCIL's five county service area which includes Monroe, Wayne, Ontario, Livingston and Yates County, is required.
Qualifications:
  • Expert level knowledge concerning benefits, health care, community-based services/programs, and Independent Living Philosophy.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Management, Human Services or a related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years related experience in Human Services.
  • Supervisory or management experience.
  • Ability to listen and respond appropriately to consumer's problems and questions.
  • Time management skills.
  • Assessment and problem solving skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
